Dauphin County agency’s plan to sell failed solar farm raises questions
September 26, 2024
As a Dauphin County agency weighs the next steps for its solar energy farm, questions about the project’s past are surfacing, including its lack of profitability and connections to two longtime county officials.
When it was unveiled in 2011, county leaders heralded the solar farm, which straddles West Hanover and Middle Paxton Townships, as a way to reduce energy costs and promote green energy. But audits show the solar farm has been steadily losing money in recent years, despite the county’s nearly $8.8 million investment.
