Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that the goal of procuring 100% of electricity from renewable sources has been attained at three sites in Japan: Hino and Hachioji R&D sites in Tokyo and Kofu production site in Yamanashi Prefecture.

Konica Minolta established material issues, including “Addressing Climate Change,” as social issues to be addressed toward 2030 and adopted an environmental vision. The Company is committed to reducing CO2 emissions from its products and businesses through decarbonization management. It has also sought ways to ensure stable procurement of renewable electricity in the long term for the sustainable management of decarbonization.

Kofu production site

The goal of sourcing 100% renewable electricity has been attained by applying the Renewable Energy ECO Plan*1 of the Kansai Electric Power Company, Incorporated and implementing a virtual PPA,*2 which was concluded with ReENE, a renewable energy business operated by Tokyu Land Corporation, in April 2025 for the power consumed at the Hachioji and Hino sites in Tokyo, which conduct technology R&D, and at its Kofu site, a production site of the Industry Business. Partial use of renewable energy has also started at Kobe site 2, a production site of the Industry Business, based on the same arrangement.

To ensure stable procurement of renewable energy into the future, the scope of the virtual PPA will be expanded in stages.

Konica Minolta’s Efforts to Achieve “Net Zero”

Regarding the material issue of “Addressing Climate Change,” Konica Minolta has been working to reduce CO2 emissions throughout the life cycle and has steadily produced results. In 2009, Konica Minolta formulated “Eco Vision 2050,” a long-term environmental vision. In May 2023, it launched a new vision to achieve “net zero” CO2 emissions from the product life cycle by 2050, a goal revised upward from the reduction of 80%. Konica Minolta is also a member of RE100, a global leadership initiative that brings together businesses committed to sourcing 100% renewable energy for their operations. The Company will enhance its reduction capabilities to achieve net zero emissions by sourcing 100% renewable energy for its operations by 2050. Konica Minolta’s net-zero targets were validated by the SBT initiative, an organization to help attain the target of the Paris Agreement, in July 2024.

*1 A plan that offers virtually CO2-free electricity derived from renewable energy. The contract includes an option to use RE100-compliant non-fossil certificates with tracking.
*2 A type of corporate PPA in which only environmental value is separated from renewable electricity, which is generated by renewable power generation equipment owned by power generation companies, for trading.
