Getting beyond self-doubt. The psychology of understanding why potential investors in your business make certain decisions. And the importance of being a gatekeeper of your organization’s workplace culture.

Those are some of the key insights and pieces of wisdom bits from the past month of “From the Corner Office” podcast episodes dropped by the Business Observer and sponsored by Synovus Bank. Highlights of the four November guests on the leadership podcast include:

Andy Cagnetta, CEO of business brokerage Transworld Business Advisors, which is based in South Florida and does work all over the state, talked about how successful business owners are not afraid to do the gritty work — like sweeping floors and cleaning bathrooms. And good leaders can develop, he says, a high tolerance for pain with people

Tim Cartwright, a partner at Fifth Avenue Family Office in Naples, and chair of the Tamiami Angel Funds, talked about how company founders need to recognize failure happens when you are trying to do great things. He also talked about some must dos — and don’ts — when pitching investors for capital.

Andrew Wright, founder of three companies: Franklin Street, Ally Capital Group and Next Level Brands, talked about his humble and blue-collar origin story, which led him to put a premium on work ethic and hustle. He also says leaders need to spend time maintaining and protecting strong company culture.

Jennifer Grondahl, senior vice president of communications for the Baltimore Orioles and a former Sarasota marketing and events company entrepreneur and nonprofit executive, talked about overcoming Imposter Syndrome and how she leads by over-communicating — and with love.
