A DRUG-DRIVER has been banned from the roads after being caught behind the wheel on cocaine and cannabis.

Paul Ryan, of Vauxhall Way, Winsford, was travelling on the A533 Davenham Bypass when he was caught on October 17 last year.

Subsequent blood tests revealed the 44-year-old had 3.8μg/L of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol and more than 800μg/L of Benzoylecgonine in his system, exceeding the limits for both drugs.

Benzoylecgonine is a breakdown product of cocaine, while Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is a component of cannabis.

Ryan admitted drug-driving at Chester Magistrates Court on December 24.

Taking his plea into account the bench disqualified him from driving for 20 months and fined him £200.

Magistrates also ordered Ryan to pay £85 in costs and an £80 surcharge.
