September 25, 2025

EWING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) – The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy has announced $1.8 million for communities working on renewable energy projects.

The money comes through EGLE’s Renewables Ready Communities Award program. The program offers funding to local governments for services like the Renegade Solar project.

For this project, Ewing Township is getting more than $133,000. In Delta County, Baldwin Township is getting more than $105,000 and there’s more than $78,000 for Maple Ridge Township.

“This grant is a partnership between EGLE and units of local government that already made the decision to permit or host for large-scale renewable energy,” said Ian O’Leary, EGLE Department Analyst.

The Renegade Solar project is expected to be operational in June of next year.
