Yoga and the environment at Virginia Key Beach Park

September 25, 2025

What do wellness, wildlife conservation and environmental action all have in common?

The answer is Heidi Ronquillo, an ambassador from Amigos de las Tortugas, a yoga instructor and an intuitive healer.

Ronquillo, in conjunction with Miami Waterkeeper, is bringing her special collaboration to the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 27.

The free event is an opportunity for the community to bond together through yoga, marine debris clean-up and learning about marine conservation using turtle models through naming, weighing and health inspection demonstrations.

With Miami-Dade known for its diverse cultures, the event will be conducted in English and Spanish to make sure everyone connects with nature and each other.

“Whether you’re experienced with yoga or new to environmental advocacy, this event offers meaningful ways to engage, learn and make a positive impact on our ocean environment,” Ronquillo said in a statement. “I believe in the deep connection between human well-being and the natural world. By integrating inclusion, yoga and mindfulness to empower individuals to lead more conscious, balanced lives while fostering a deeper respect for the ocean.”

Participants must register for the yoga and clean-up event.
