75 Michigan communities challenge new rules for big solar, wind projects in court

Some 75 communities across Michigan are banding together to lodge a legal challenge to new state rules that could take away their ability to have the final say on sprawling wind parks or solar farms in their backyards.

The legal appeal, dated Nov. 8, comes less than a month before state law meant to ease barriers to renewable energy by giving state regulators the authority to approve certain big projects goes into effect.
