Wall Street looks to recover, investors digest PMI, initial jobless claims: Yahoo Finance

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq are coming off their second day of declines as investors digest the latest data from US initial jobless claims and the ISM Services Purchasing Managers Index (PMI). This comes ahead of Friday’s critical jobs report, the first since July’s print stoked recession concerns after the unemployment rate hit 4.3%. As the Federal Reserve nears its September meeting, the bond market is pricing in closer to 50 basis points of interest rate cuts. Meanwhile, Verizon (VZ) announced it will buy Frontier Communications (FYBR) in a $20 billion deal as it seeks to expand its fiber network. Nvidia (NVDA) has also pushed back on the report that it has been subpoenaed by the Justice Department in an antitrust probe.
