The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) concluded its Summit on Accelerating Scale-Up of Renewable and Distributed Energy Resources with significant commitments from participants to push for the advancement of clean energy in the country. The summit, which brought together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, distribution companies, development finance institutions, renewable energy firms, and consultancies, emphasized the need for greater collaboration to drive the adoption of renewable energy solutions.

Participants advocated for the introduction of renewable energy certificates, the promotion of carbon credits, and a strong focus on mini-grid and distributed energy regulations. These measures are seen as essential to meeting Nigeria’s energy needs while transitioning to a more sustainable power system.
