Pensacola’s Bayview Community Center set for solar upgrade

October 8, 2024

PENSACOLA, Fla. — A Pensacola community center will soon be generating its own power. The city received a rooftop solar grant of $120,000.

The money comes from a Department of Energy program designed to help local governments reduce fossil fuel emissions.

Mayor D.C. Reeves says they plan is to install a solar energy system at Bayview Community Center.

“That’s been a long time coming I believe,” says Reeves. “So, it’s exciting to get that and it’ll be the city’s first rooftop solar. And certainly, hopefully, will be the first of many and will pave the way for future renewable energy projects.”

The grant is part of the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.
