Arkansas receives $2.5M+ in grants for solar power projects

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT/KARK)— A federal program focused on renewable energy in rural areas awarded more than $2.5 million in grants to Arkansas.

According to content partner KARK, the United States Department of Agriculture issued $2,573,271 for 13 solar power projects at various commercial sites statewide. Officials said the grants are intended to lower energy costs while providing jobs and clean energy.

Among the largest grants was $1 million to ZY-AX QOZB, LLC. for powering its Manila factor. The funding will provide a 1270-kilowatt-hour solar array, which is enough to power 174 homes.
