Ben Cosgrove to Perform Environment-Inspired Music at Fogartyville in Sarasota with Jazz Openers Michael Ross and Fred Johnson

Ben Cosgrove, a renowned composer and multi-instrumentalist, will bring his unique blend of folk and classical instrumental music to Fogartyville in Sarasota on Wednesday, February 12 at 7 p.m. His performance will showcase original compositions that delve into themes of landscape, geography, and environmental change, creating a musical exploration of the natural world.

Cosgrove’s work spans various genres and has earned him recognition across multiple fields. Known for his collaborations with rock bands, scientists, and filmmakers, Cosgrove’s music has been featured in prominent projects, including the Ken Burns documentary The American Buffalo. He has also received prestigious fellowships and residencies from NASA, the National Park Service, the National Forest Service, Harvard University, Middlebury College, Schmidt Ocean Institute, and the Sitka Center for Art & Ecology, where he has deeply connected his music to the environment.

The evening’s performance will be preceded by a set from talented jazz artists Michael Ross (bass) and Fred Johnson (vocals), who will add a rich, improvisational touch to the event.

Tickets are priced at $20 for WSLR+Fogartyville members, $25 for general admission, and $12 for students (13+). The performance will take place at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, located at 525 Kumquat Court in Sarasota.
