Meta presented the Quest 3S this week during the annual Meta Connect. The new entry-level VR headset has been released worldwide on October 15. You can currently get both Meta Quest 3S or Meta Quest 3 in a bundle together with the VR blockbuster Batman: Arkham Shadow and a 3-month trial of Meta Quest+.

Meta Quest 3S: This is the Quest 2 successor

Meta Quest 3S has been released on October 15 and succeeds the popular Quest 2. The new standalone headset offers a lot of technology at an affordable price of $300 for the 128 GB version. In terms of performance, the Quest 3S is on a par with the significantly more expensive Quest 3, as the chipset and RAM are identical.

The Quest 3S uses Fresnel lenses instead of pancake lenses, has a slightly lower resolution and a smaller field of view than the Quest 3. The cheaper headset also makes compromises in terms of design and has a more bulky profile.

In terms of mixed reality, Quest 3S is on a par with its big sister, at least on paper. A practical new feature is the action button on the underside of the headset, which can be used to switch between VR and MR.

Exclusively for Quest 3S, Meta offers a new, breathable face insert that is particularly suitable for motion-intensive VR games and VR workouts. Otherwise, the headset is compatible with the majority of Quest 3 accessories, including the Elite strap, the carrying cases, the link cable and the charging station.
