Cannabis dispensary looks forward to reopening in West Carthage
January 2, 2025
WEST CARTHAGE, New York (WWNY) – A West Carthage cannabis dispensary is getting closer to re-opening.
“I can see the light at the end of the tunnel finally and it’s making all the hard work, frustration, and everything that we’ve gone through up to this point feel like it’s worth it finally,” said Brandon Blount, managing partner with Black River Supply Company.
Black River Supply Company, a locally sourced cannabis dispensary, hopes to open very soon. Blount says after much stress they may finally get their adult dispensary license within the next month and a half.
“I’m looking forward very much to getting our doors open, having our grand re-opening, and serving our community again in that way that we did last year,” he said.
The business used to sell cannabis legally through a special program known as the North Country Cannabis Growers Showcase. That program ended in 2023 and Blount has been waiting on the adult dispensary license ever since.
So what’s left to do?
Blount says two things: file their security protocols, and finalize their point of sale system and send the Cannabis Association of New York a receipt.
Blount says he’s putting that receipt in today and he’s waiting on a response from the company running their security.
The last thing they’ll need is a sticker officiating their licensing. Blount says they could open as soon as that sticker is planted on their door.
But again that could take more than a month. Blount says whenever it happens, they’ll be opening.
“We will be ready. Absolutely,” he said.
