Cannabis stocks fall as Florida marijuana legalization fails
November 6, 2024
A ballot measure to legalize recreational marijuana failed in the state of Florida, driving a big blow to the cannabis industry. Shares of Canopy Growth Corporation (CGC) are down 20%, while Tilray Brands (TLRY) drop by over 10% at the time of this video’s posting. This comes as Florida was widely seen as a lucrative market for cannabis companies. But while more than half of voters supported legalization for adults aged 21 and older, the measure failed to pass the 60% threshold needed to get into Florida’s constitution. The pathway ahead for cannabis growth in Florida remains uncertain.
