Climate change extends tourism season
December 25, 2024
Extreme weather conditions, such as the intense heat in the summer and the very mild spring and fall, due to the dramatic climate change in the Mediterranean this decade, have done what the tourism authorities and the industry had hoped and worked for over the previous years – i.e. extended the tourism season.
A considerable number of visitors to Greece now prefer to travel to this country in spring and fall instead of the hot months of July and August, the only months that unexpectedly showed a decline in tourism revenues this year compared to 2023, as the timing and location criteria of holiday dates selection change, benefiting the local market.
