Community Offshore Wind, the joint venture between RWE and National Grid Ventures, has submitted a 2.8-MW offshore wind park proposal for the state of New York.

If chosen, the project would be constructed in two phases over the developer’s federal offshore wind lease area in the New York Bight.

There are two proposed interconnection points. In Brooklyn, one phase will interconnect at the ConEd Clean Energy Hub in the Vinegar Hill area and potentially a coordinated transmission solution. The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) is currently evaluating proposals.

Another phase would interconnect at the E.F. Barrett Power Station in Island Park, Long Island.

The project would be linked to transmission infrastructure under development as part of New York Transco’s Propel NY Energy project.
