Driver arrested on Christmas Eve for suspected cannabis in car

A driver in north Dorset has been arrested for alleged drug offences on Christmas Eve.
Police stopped the vehicle in rural north Dorset yesterday evening.
Searching the vehicle officers say they found suspected cannabis. The driver was then arrested.
A spokesperson for the Dorset Police Rural Crime Team said: “An officer from the team stopped a vehicle in rural north Dorset and detained the driver under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
“With assistance from Blandford NPT and Yellow Squad TP, the vehicle was searched, and the driver tested for drugs and alcohol.
“With cannabis located in the vehicle and an indication of cannabis from a preliminary drug wipe, the driver was arrested and conveyed to custody.
“Not a good start to Christmas for this driver. Rural patrols continue.
“Please stay safe over the festive period. From everyone on the team, we wish you all a very merry Christmas.”
