Econergy Renewable Energy, a leading renewable energy developer and independent power producer (IPP), has been successful in the recent Romanian Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction with the Parau 2 solar project.
The Parau 2 plant has a total capacity of 310 MW (DC), with a maximum awarded CfD capacity of 125 MW AC (150 MW DC). Econergy secured a price of €49.4/MWh under a 15-year contract which is fully index-linked to ensure the long-term stability and viability of the project. The cumulative expected revenues from the project during the CFD period are estimated at approximately €447 million.
The Parau 2 Project is located in the Bra?ov region of Romania and is currently in the ‘licensing’ phase. Construction is expected to begin in 2025 and connection in 2027.
The achievement underscores Econergy’s leading role and commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions in Romania’s transition toward its net-zero goals. With construction already progressing, Parau 2 is set to play a key role in strengthening the country’s solar capacity and reducing carbon emissions.
This milestone reflects Econergy’s strong pipeline, technical expertise, and dedication to accelerating the clean energy transition across Europe, and particularly in Romania.
In the upcoming CfD auction in 2025, in which 3500 MW are expected to be allocated, Econergy plans to submit additional projects.
The success of Parau 2 reaffirms Econergy’s position as a leader in the realisation of large scale renewable projects that are in line with European energy targets and are addressing both environmental and economic priorities.
