Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt is one of ten Republican Governors who recently announced a coalition to slash regulations about energy production and take a stand against renewable energy mandates.

They call it the Governors Coalition for Energy Choice. In a statement, the governors said their goal is to “ensure continued energy choice, minimize permitting and other regulatory barriers, limit expensive energy mandates, focus on affordability and reliability of energy infrastructure, and coordinate to positively manage energy resources and the environment.”

Gov. Stitt, who did not make a statement about the coalition, joined Louisiana’s Jeff Landry, New Hampshire’s Chris Sununu, Tennessee’s Bill Lee, Virginia’s Glenn Youngkin, Arkansas’s Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Indiana’s Eric Holcomb, South Dakota’s Kristi Noem, Georgia’s Brian Kemp and Wyoming’s Mark Gordon.

“Governor Youngkin has consistently called for All-American, All-Of-The-Above energy solutions for Virginia since releasing his plan in 2022 to further the Commonwealth’s access to a reliable, affordable, increasingly clean, and growing supply of power,” Youngkin spokesperson Christian Martinez told The Hill in a statement. “The governor is encouraged by the broad support of Republican Governors across the country leading the way, urging federal leaders to follow suit.”

The Hill reported that Governor Youngkin’s move drew heavy criticism from the Virginia chapter of the Sierra Club which called it an indicator that the governors intend to continue the proliferation of fossil fuels.
