Green Bay police expanding electric vehicle fleet with Teslas
June 18, 2026
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Two years ago, the South Pasadena California Police Department became the first department in the country to boast a fully electric, zero emissions police fleet.
Others are following suit.
In Green Bay, the department is a long way from fully electric, but on Tuesday night, the Common Council approved purchasing two more Teslas, doubling the size of the electric fleet to 4.
The cost, just under 90,000, is less expensive than the cost of two regular vehicles once they fitted out for police use. Green Bay’s first two Teslas have been in use for nearly two years, but the new ones will be used differently.
To learn how, we took a ride along with the chief on Thursday afternoon in the video above.
