ISABELLA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — DTE Energy has officially broke ground on its latest renewable energy project in Isabella County.

Shovels hit the ground Wednesday morning a Mission Road Solar Park in Mt. Pleasant.

More than 300,000 solar panels will be put here.

DTE said they will generate enough clean energy to power 38,000 homes.

“Isabella County, Isabella Township, will be able to receive both revenue from the taxes and the energy that is sold and its clean Michigan energy that’ll get dispersed throughout this area and other parts of Michigan. It also help power the different parts of the economy,” said Joe Musallam, the vice president of renewable energy sales and project development at DTE.

Musallam said once running, this will be one of DTE’s largest solar projects.

It is scheduled to be fully operational by 2025.
