Lack of cannabis laws hurts industry; and the Raging Grannies deliver protest songs

January 6, 2025

A Wisconsin cannabis advocate makes the case for regulating pot. Then, three members of the Raging Grannies share in song form their opposition to war, erosion of women’s rights, and climate change denial.

  • While the sale of marijuana remains illegal in Wisconsin, hemp-derived products that mimic the effects of pot are readily available, and their potency is unregulated. A cannabis industry leader, Phillip Scott, is seeking state regulation.

  • An exhibit about the Raging Grannies spotlights their late-in-life commitment to the politics of protest. But these older women share more fun than rage with one another. We talk to Susan Bickley, Barbara Park, and Bonnie Block, all members of the Raging Grannies of Madison.
