Police made one arrest after executing a search warrant at a Connecticut smoke shop suspected of selling marijuana without a license.
The Norwalk Police Department‘s Special Services Division executed a search and seizure warrant at the R & R Smoke & Convenience Store, located at 213 Main St., on Friday as part of the ongoing investigation into smoke shops selling cannabis without a cannabis license, according to Sgt. Ryan Evarts of the Norwalk Police Department.
Officers received information that the smoke shot was allegedly selling pure marijuana and as well as products well above the legal THC level, Evarts said, noting that it is illegal to sell products with a total THC concentration greater than 0.3% without a cannabis license in Connecticut.
According to Evarts, the search warrant allegedly yielded “several hundred products” that were above the 0.3% THC concentration. In addition, pure marijuana, THC gummies and galaxy gas nitrous oxide were also seized.
“The legal amount of THC allowed per gummy is one milligram per gummy and the gummies seized were higher than this amount,” Evarts said. “The marijuana they were selling was packaged in a variety of different packaging with misleading labels affixed to them.”
In addition, $8,000 in U.S. currency was reportedly seized and will be applied for through the asset forfeiture statutes, according to Evarts.
Abdellahi Ahmedou-touh, 22, was arrested and is facing multiple drug possession charges. He was being held on a $100,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 6, 2025.
