Masdar acquires Saeta’s 2.3 GW portfolio of renewables in Spain and Portugal

The Emirati company Masdar has acquired the renewable platform Saeta Yield for a value of €1.2bn and an equity value of €696m. Saeta has an operating portfolio of 745 MW and a 1.6 GW development pipeline in Spain and Portugal. Currently, Saeta has 538 MW of wind assets in Spain, 144 MW of wind assets in Portugal and 63 MW solar PV assets in Spain.

In addition, Masdar has announced the finalisation of a partnership agreement with the Spanish company Endesa to advance renewable energy initiatives. Under this deal, Masdar has acquired a 49.99% stake in EGPE Solar for an enterprise value of €817m and an equity value of €280m. EPGE Solar is a subsidiary Endesa, which owns a 2 GW portfolio of operational solar PV assets in Spain.

In the past months, Masdar has been expanding its portfolio in Europe with the acquisition of Greece’s Terna Energy in early December 2024. The UAE company targets 100 GW of capacity in Europe by 2030.
