Meta Can Exit Mass Suit to Fight Texas Trafficking Claim Solo

Meta Platforms Inc. can separate itself from mass litigation involving online sex trafficking, the Texas Supreme Court said Tuesday.
The justices ruled 8-0 that Facebook’s owner can defend claims by itself, not alongside seven sex trafficking cases against Salesforce.com that a lower court said shared enough similarities to create multidistrict litigation.
“At a general level, the cases involve criminal exploitation of minors that took place at Texas hotels through the use of social media. There, however, the commonality ends,” Justice Jane Bland wrote in the opinion.
