Meta threatens to sue Zionist group official for ‘threatening and defamatory behavior
December 30, 2024
Meta is threatening to sue an Israeli-American citizen and senior member of the global Betar movement over alleged harassment of its employees. The tech giant is demanding compensation and reimbursement for legal expenses, according to a letter sent last week by the Herzog Fox & Neeman law firm, which represents Meta in Israel.
The letter outlines Meta’s response to the individual’s request to reinstate two Instagram accounts that were deactivated. The company stated that the accounts were removed due to repeated violations of its community standards and terms of service.
Additionally, Meta accused the Betar leader of engaging in threatening behavior toward its employees, including sending direct messages to Jordana Cutler, Meta’s public policy director for Israel, and publicly sharing her personal contact information online to incite others to harass her.
The letter asserted that such actions constitute serious violations of Israel’s Defamation Law, Privacy Protection Law and Anti-Stalking Law

“Our letter explicitly requested that your client refrain from contacting Meta employees or employees of Facebook Israel,” the letter read. “Despite this, your client has continued to engage in harassing, threatening, and defamatory behavior toward FB Israel employees, including Ms. Jordana Cutler.”
“Specifically, your client repeatedly sent Ms. Cutler emails containing provocative, threatening and abusive language. These emails, which included demands for Ms. Cutler to ‘resign from her job’ and threatened to ‘commence protests inside [her] office’ have also been shared with third parties, including public figures. Alarmingly, your client has escalated his conduct by publicly disclosing Ms. Cutler’s email address on X (formerly Twitter), evidently to incite others to harass her further.”
Meta has demanded that Betar’s leadership immediately cease all harassment, remove any personal information about its employees from public platforms, and provide confirmation of compliance within 48 hours. “If your client does not comply with the above, our client will be left to pursue all available legal remedies against your client to protect employee rights and the safety and security of individuals.”
Meta also clarified that its employees in Israel are not involved in handling Instagram service complaints, urging Betar activists to halt any further attempts to contact them.
“What we sadly learn from Betar being removed from Meta is that there is one set of rules for pro-terrorists and another for Zionists,” the leadership of Betar wrote in a statement in response “To threaten court and lawsuits for challenging Meta in Israel tells us that we have no representation at Meta. Sadly Meta’s oversight board is filled with Jew haters and people affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.”
“We also ask the Foreign Minister and Diaspora Affairs Ministry to challenge Meta. We as Zionists have no representation at this company,” the statement also said.
“Interesting that Meta views simple inquiries and complaints as threats. A company that permits mass broadcasts of pro-terror messages doesn’t have any way for Israelis or Zionists to communicate with Meta.
Sadly this reply from Meta makes clear to the people and government of Israel we have no allies and no one to talk to at Meta,” it concluded.
