Meta to pay $1M in job ads discrimination suit in Israel, Globes reports
December 27, 2024
Meta will pay $1M and establish a comprehensive reform of job advertising in Israel to settle a class action which accused the social media giant of allowing Israeli employers to define exposure to job advertising by age and gender, Globes’ Meytal Vaizberg reports, citing court filings. The case began in 2021, when Ya’ala Lev, a sales and marketing employee aged 54, found she was barred from many wanted ads on Facebook, which led to an investigation revealing a campaign management system that enabled employers to define the criteria for candidates that would be exposed to job ads, including age range, gender, and place of residence.
