Meta Will Face Wiretapping Claims it Tracked Users Across Sites

A federal judge allowed claims to proceed in a dispute accusing Meta Platforms Inc. of deploying tracking technology to collect users’ personal data without consent across third-party websites.
Plaintiffs sufficiently alleged that Meta intended its surveillance technology to be used for wiretapping and didn’t obtain valid consent from its users before tracking them online, said US Magistrate Judge Nathanael M. Cousins in an order filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
