Micron submits early draft of huge environmental report, a key step for Clay chipmaking plants

Syracuse, N.Y. – A week after securing billions from the federal government, Micron Technology has taken the next critical step toward building a massive chipmaking plant in Central New York.
On the cusp of the Christmas holiday, Micron over the weekend submitted a preliminary draft of an extensive and required environmental report. Known formally as the preliminary draft environmental impact statement, the report details how the massive chipmaking complex would alter the region’s air, water, traffic and housing market, among other potential effects. The report also includes ways to alleviate the impacts.
