Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Monday, said that an inclusive foundation will be established to ensure more effective CSR initiatives by renewable energy companies in coastal district of Thatta.

Nasir Shah, while chairing a meeting on Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for the welfare of local people by renewable energy (RE) companies, stated that the foundation-having representation of people through their elected representatives along with Sindh government, energy department and RE companies- will work in close coordination to make CSR initiatives more effective and result oriented under one umbrella.

The minister called the RE companies for expanding their CSR initiatives to facilitate the local population of district Thatta while consensus was developed on joint measures in education and health sector to improve condition of schools and hospitals and resolving issues as to provision of clean drinking water and employment through CSR, said a statement issued here.

Sindh Minister for Prisons and Works and Services Ali Hasan Zardari, Minister Awqaf Religious Affairs, Zakat and Usher Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, MNA Sadiq Ali Memon, MPA Dr. Sikandar Shoro, Secretary Energy Mossadiq Ahmed Khan, Project Director Alternative Energy Mahfouz Ahmad Qazi and representatives of RE companies working in Thatta district also attended the meeting.

Ali Hasan Zardari, Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, Sadiq Ali Memon, Dr. Sikandar Shoro stressed on coordinated CSR interventions and suggested that all the steps should be taken from a single platform containing all the stakeholders so that more steps could be taken to improve the basic facilities for the local populace.

The district is home of a number of wind and solar energy projects spread over thousands of acres of land and local communities have the rights to its royalty, employment and social development, they maintained and also assured close coordination with the RE companies and all possible help in case of any difficulty.

They thanked the energy minister for providing the public representatives a platform to better serve their electorate through CSR.
