February 2, 2025

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The city of South Burlington has brought a new member to their team, to help cool down the climate crisis.

The city has hired their first-ever climate manager, her name is Bettina Miguez.

As the city is trying to meet their targets to mitigate climate change, Miguez will help the city find loans and grant funding for various projects.

Officials are looking to put in more EV chargers and cut down on carbon emissions.

Miguez says she’s excited to start the work.

“Talk to all the different people that have been implementing some of these actions. Putting some of these projects together. Understand how I can help them move things along. Also start up some of the projects that haven’t had a chance to start yet,” Miguez said.

The city is currently collecting data to see what goals have already been accomplished.
