14 jobs at risk at Meta data centre in Co Meath

Facebook parent company Meta is planning what it described as a ‘small number’ of redundancies at its data centre in Clonee, Co Meath.

It is understood that 14 roles are at risk and that potentially impacted staff were informed yesterday.

The Government has been informed of the proposed job cuts by Meta.

“As part of our continued efforts to streamline operations and enhance efficiency at the company, we are proposing to make a small number of roles redundant at our data centre in Clonee,” a Meta spokesperson said.

“We’ll be following the collective consultation process under Irish law and are committed to supporting potentially impacted employees,” the company said.

The redundancies are separate to an announcement by Meta in January that it is to cut around 5% of its “lowest performing” staff globally.

Irish-based staff have been impacted by the move but it is not known how many of them are facing redundancy.

Meta employs around 2,000 people in Ireland.

The company said that the staff that are made redundant as part of the performance-related exits announced in January will be replaced by new hires.
