Our “12 States That Could Legalize Cannabis in 2025” forecast led the way as Cannabis Business Times’ top-performing article in March. The in-depth breakdown includes states that are “likely” to legalize, as well as those that are listed as “maybe,” “to watch” and “wildcards.”
Taking the No. 2 spot among the most-read articles this month was a write-up on the Texas Senate passing legislation to ban consumable hemp products containing any amount of THC or other intoxicating cannabinoids in a prohibition move that would debilitate a state industry that now has a $10 billion economic impact with 53,000 workers.
“These people are not good people. They’re evil. They don’t care. It’s all about the bottom line,” said Texas Sen. Charles Perry, R-Lubbock, who is sponsoring the bill.
In the No. 3 spot was a piece on a pair of bipartisan Idaho House lawmakers introducing a medical cannabis legalization bill just days after the state Legislature approved a joint resolution to block citizens from voting on cannabis legalization initiatives. However, “No growing, selling or production of cannabis in Idaho would be permitted” under this legislation.
Other stories among the most-read articles this month covered cannabis tax hikes in California and New Jersey, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s veto of an adult-use sales bill, and CBT’s 2025 Best Cannabis Companies to Work For award recipients.
