The rapid evolution of general-purpose humanoid robots, propelled by advances in generative AI, mechatronics, and simulation technology, could reshape workforce dynamics across industries. Unlike robots built for specific tasks in controlled—often industrial environments—humanoid general-purpose robots (GPRs) will be able to perform a many different tasks, from manufacturing floors to hospitals and hotels, without the need for significant reconfiguration or reprogramming. Their human-like bodies makes them suitable for environments designed for people and will allow them to collaborate with people far sooner than many companies expect.
