Missouri DHSS seeks proposals for cannabis market, economic impact study

Missouri’s Department of Health and Senior Services is seeking proposals for a cannabis market and economic impact study to evaluate the industry’s growth and stability.The study will help determine whether additional cannabis facility licenses are necessary, as well as their allocation and distribution.Under Article XIV of the Missouri Constitution, DHSS has the authority to adjust the number of cannabis business licenses to meet market demand, ensure a competitive industry, and prevent overconcentration of facilities in any single local jurisdiction.The study will also assess the overall stability of the regulated cannabis market, identifying economic strengths and potential risks.If DHSS issues new licenses, at least 50% must be awarded to owners of cannabis microbusiness facilities that have been operational for at least a year.Proposals must be submitted by 2 p.m. on March 24 for consideration.
