Milk River Project moving forward with environment restoration efforts.

March 15, 2025

(Milk River Project) The Milk River Project gave an update on their restoration efforts in the area following the significant amount of sediment was pushed into the river, impacting the surrounding environment, after the failure of the St. Mary Siphon in 2024.

The organization says that after an Emergency Watershed Protection grant partnerships with NRCS, DNRC and the Blackfeet Tribe, they are now able to take action to restore the area.

Through an official Facebook post, the Project says that their restoration efforts include rebuilding the bank, restoring the river, and removing the sedimentation, and transplanting native willow cuttings to help rejuvenate the landscape.
