Lincoln County Commissioners to Address Broadband, CDBG Grant, and Renewable Energy Morato

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (April 13, 2025) — The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners will convene Monday, April 14, at 9 a.m. at the Lincoln County Courthouse to consider a full agenda that includes updates from public health officials, a presentation on broadband expansion, and discussions on local infrastructure and renewable energy development.
Following the opening prayer and approval of the April 7 meeting minutes, commissioners will review claims, treasurer’s receipts, and fee reports from the County Sheriff and Register of Deeds. They will also consider a 2025 engineering agreement with T.C. Engineering and a special designated liquor permit submitted by Pals Brewing Co. for an upcoming event at the Homestead Pumpkin Patch on May 24.
Around 9:30 a.m. the comissioners will hear from Meghan Trevino, Executive Director of the West Central District Health Department. At 9:45 a.m., Val Jansente from Congressman Adrian Smith’s office will provide a congressional update. Jansente will also host a Mobile Office at the courthouse from noon to 1 p.m.
At 10 a.m., representatives from Nextlink will present plans for broadband expansion under the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. The board will then consider acting as a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) pass-through entity for the Las Mananitas project at 10:15 a.m.
Among other key items, the board will discuss adopting Resolution 2025-10 at 10:25 a.m., which would extend a temporary moratorium on the development of commercial or utility-grade wind and solar energy conversion systems.
At 10:35 a.m., commissioners will consider de-obligating from COPS grant funding and authorizing related documentation. Infrastructure proposals, including Project C56-(2517) S&E Banner Rd and Hershey Dickens Rd. repairs, will follow.
The meeting may include a closed session to discuss legal, security, or personnel matters, as needed. Elected officials and department heads will also have an opportunity to raise concerns, and the board will present committee reports.
