A “sophisticated” cannabis farm containing hundreds of plants with a street value of £350,000 has been discovered, police said.

More than 500 plants were found at a property in Reed Hill, Rochdale, along with 7kg of treated cannabis, valued at £70,000, Greater Manchester Police said.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the cultivation of cannabis and abstracting electricity without authority.

Police said the farm would have been capable of producing four or five harvests each year, raising between £1m and £1.75m.

“The plants have been seized with enquiries ongoing,” the force said.

“We treat any information or intelligence provided by the public with utmost seriousness. It is crucial to our investigations, and we will take action on it when necessary.”
