Ocean Springs Environmental Alliance celebrates Earth Day

April 19, 2025

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) – Ahead of Earth Day on April 22, the Ocean Springs Environmental Alliance filled the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center lawn on Tuesday with educational booths for kids and adults to learn more about protecting the planet.

Volunteers with the alliance are all involved in agriculture, farming, or marine fields, dedicating themselves to protecting those natural resources.

The Earth Day event consisted of many activities for children, making sure the next generation can keep Mother Earth in good shape.

“Well, we know it starts with them; it doesn’t start with us,” explained Danielle Moroux with OSEA. “We’ve learned a lot, but if we could teach them, they can carry it on. I know I was taught by my father and I’m sure he was taught by his father. It’s just a matter of carrying that function because this is the only planet we have and we have to take care of it. The kids are going to be here longer than we are to take care of it, to help us take care of it.”

This is the fourth year for OSEA’s Earth Day event.
