April 20, 4/20 (four-twenty) is slang in cannabis culture for when — like the day or time (4:20 p.m.) — to smoke pot. It’s known variously as 420, 4:20 and 4/20.

Three years ago I wrote about my experience purchasing and recreationally ingesting gummies with CBD (cannabidiol). It seemed a good time to provide an update.

Some cannabis background

According to a Huffington Post article, the term 4:20 originated in 1971 with “a group of five San Rafael High School friends known as the Waldos — by virtue of their chosen hang-out spot, a wall outside the school.” Now it’s also a day for steep sales within the cannabis industry.
