As someone who’s both a shopping editor and a devoted dog mom to my 6-year-old Bernese mountain dog, Sully, Amazon’s Pet Day sale is essentially my Super Bowl. The two-day event (running May 13 and 14 this year) is when I stock up on all of our essentials—and yes, splurge on some new toys and treats that Sully probably doesn’t need but definitely deserves.
After years of trial and error finding products that can endure a 100-pound+ furball’s enthusiasm, I’ve developed a sixth sense for spotting good deals versus the mediocre ones. Whether you’re a new pet parent or a seasoned pro, navigating the ginormous selection of deals and flash sales can be overwhelming. But fear not, because I’ve rounded up the absolute best Amazon Pet Day deals that I’m personally adding to my cart before they disappear. OK, let’s dig into what I’m shopping, shall we?
Portland Pet Food Company Salmon & Beef Fresh Dog Food Pouches
Portland Pet Food offers human-grade dog and cat food in ultra-convenient pre-portioned packaging. Because Sully is massive and eats a lot, these are great toppers for him, but they are great complete meal options for smaller dogs as well. During Amazon’s Pet Day sale, you can apply a 20% off coupon when you add these to your cart.
Dog Deer Antler Chew
These deer antlers are, without a doubt, the longest-lasting dog chews you’ll find. One antler lasts Sully about a month. You do need to be careful and watch your dog while they’re chewing these because they can get sharp edges, but overall, a must-have in my arsenal of boredom-busting dog toys.
Outward Hound by Nina Ottosson Dog Tornado Treat Puzzle Dog Toy, Level 2 Intermediate, Blue
These kinds of enrichment puzzles are great for rainy days when I can’t (or just don’t want to) take Sully outside for a walk. They help him get some energy out, are a nice distraction for him, help with boredom, and I get to fill them with healthy treats. Lots of these puzzles cost upwards of $30 so the $12 price tag is a must-shop.
Native Pet Yak Cheese Himalayan Dog Chews
Sully loves to chew, but he has a horrible habit of ingesting everything he likes to chew. So I try to choose safe (and digestible) alternatives to avoid yet another pricey trip to the vet ER. These Yak Chews are perfect because they last a long time (a few days per chew) and I don’t have to worry about him eating anything that could cause problems.
Vital Essentials Freeze Dried Raw Single Ingredient Cat Treats, Minnows, 1 oz (Package may vary)
These are labeled as cat treats, but Sully loves them! And I love that they’re a single-ingredient treat that I can feel good about giving to him. They’re a win-win for both of us.
Chom Chom Roller Pet Hair Remover and Reusable Lint Roller
OK, this one isn’t technically for Sully, but I do need it because of the ungodly amount of fur he sheds daily. I already have one of these reusable pet hair removers, but mine recently broke after about 5 years of use so it’s time for a replacement and there’s a coupon that you can use at checkout to knock the price down to just $19.
