‘Carrie’ Series Officially Sets Summer Howell As Lead; Samantha Sloyan, Josie Totah & Ambe

Prime Video‘s Carrie, a TV adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name, has confirmed its lead cast, including Summer Howell (Curse of Chucky) as the titular horror teen Carrie White, who Deadline reported was in talks back in April. We also revealed that Matthew Lillard (Five Nights at Freddy’s) was set to join as Principal Grayle in May and has now closed on the role.

The new cast includes Samantha Sloyan (The Fall of the House of Usher) as Carrie’s mom, Margaret White, Alison Thornton (Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce) as Chris Hargensen, Thalia Dudek (The Running Man) as Emaline, Siena Agudong (Sidelined: The QB and Me) as Sue Snell, Amber Midthunder (FX’s Legion) as Miss Desjardin, Josie Totah (AppleTV+’s The Buccaneers) as Tina, and Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) as Billy, Joel Oulette (Sullivan’s Crossing) as Tommy.

Carrie is described as a reimagining of the story of misfit high schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father’s sudden death, Carrie finds herself contending with the challenges of attending high school, a bullying scandal, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.

King’s novel has been previously adapted for the big screen, with Sissy Spacek playing Carrie in the 1976 Brian De Palma movie Carrie, and Chloë Grace Moretz in the 2013 remake.

Mike Flanagan (The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass) is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner, and will direct select episodes. Trevor Macy also executive produces on the Amazon MGM Studios-produced project.
