According to the Duluth Fire Department, crews responded to the 4000 block of Main Street just before 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 12 to reports of a structure fire.

Wood ignited in the 20,000 square foot storage building at the Minnesota Power Hibbard Renewable Energy Center, but the building’s fire suppression system was able to keep the fire under control until crews quickly knocked the flames down.

Responding companies included Lincoln Park, Downtown, and Spirit Valley.

Power generation was not affected during the fire, and there were no injuries reported.
