Jared Goff confident in Lions’ ability to handle Baltimore environment in Week 3
September 21, 2025
The Detroit Lions are 1-1 after a blowout home win in Week 2, but the challenge doesn’t get any easier as the schedule shifts to Week 3.
Much like Week 1, the Lions will be on the road in a challenging atmosphere. If Lambeau Field was tough for Detroit, M&T Bank Stadium provides another very difficult situation on Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens.
Part of Detroit’s downfall in the season opener was communication. The Lions were sloppy offensively against the Green Bay Packers, and it contributed to their 27-13 loss. While communication and play was far better against the Chicago Bears, the challenge will be taking those advances on the road.
Jared Goff is well aware of the challenge. Speaking with “Karsch & Anderson” on 97.1 The Ticket, the quarterback was asked about the readiness of the offense going back on the road. As he explained, he believes the Lions are ready to handle the environment because everyone has plenty of direct experience away from home.
“That place is loud. They’ll be rocking. They’ll be going. But as a quarterback, part of my job is communication. I’ve been doing it for 10 years. I’ve done it on the road in a lot of hostile environments. We should be able to handle it. We should be able to handle the noise. We should be able to communicate well. We shouldn’t be affected by it if we are who we say we are.”
The Lions have been one of the league’s best road teams lately, going an impressive 14-4 away from home since 2023. To that end, Goff is right that they have the goods to compete in tough environments, especially given they are motivated from their first defeat.
No matter the environment, the Lions will be up against it as they take on a solid Ravens defense. That group has been one of the standard bearers in the NFL for the last 25 years, and it looks as if nothing has changed early this season no matter what players suit up.
Goff knows the Lions will need to pay attention to detail this week, because the defense they take on will be motivated during a prime time battle, which means the team will have to sharpen their focus even more.

“They’re a great unit. They always have been, always will be it seems, as long as those coaches are there and those players. They’ve done a great job obviously for years and we’ll have our hands full. It’ll be fun. It’ll be Monday Night Football. Everyone will be watching. It’ll be loud. It’ll be raucous. We’ll have to be on our P’s and Q’s if we want to come out with a win. We’re going have to play well.”
Detroit’s offense against Baltimore’s defense shapes up to be the most important battle on Monday. If the Lions can move the ball and score, it will give their defense a chance to catch their breath and feel confidence no matter what happens when they are on the field.
The Lions failed their first road test in grand fashion this season, but will get a chance to atone for that sin quickly. Goff will be relying on the lessons learned from previous road trips to help them over the top.
