AMERICUS, Ga. (WALB) – Phoebe Sumter Medical Center (PSMC) received a $100,000 donation to help fund its new on-campus childcare facility, Family Tree Child Development Center.

Synovus Bank presented PSMC with the check in September through its Here Matters Donor Advised Fund.

According to the release, this facility will be modeled after the successful Family Tree childcare program at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. The Sumter facility will start by serving 50 children with plans to expand in an effort to meet the needs of Phoebe employees and local families.

The program is set to begin in 2027, with full state certification. The hospital is prepared to staff the facility once construction is complete.
