One Recipe at a Time: New cooking show hopes to shift attitudes toward its main ingredient
October 10, 2025
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A new cooking show is set to break ground in Kansas City this fall with an ingredient chefs hope to shift attitudes about – cannabis.
SWADE Cannabis, a Missouri-based dispensary, has announced a canna-culinary pop-up series in Kansas City – Best Buds.
“Bringing the Best Buds dinner series to Kansas City for the very first time is monumental for our team,” said Brandon Cavanagh, Director of Marketing at SWADE. “This experience is our way of introducing the city to cannabis-friendly dining and a chance to work with the city’s most exemplary culinary teams.”
Dispensary leaders noted that the chef-driven program combines culinary menus with approachable cannabis consumption. This is a continuation of the series’ success in St. Louis.
“We’re thrilled to branch into this new market, connect with our KC neighbors, and show that cannabis can be celebrated at the table just like wine or cocktails,” Cavanagh continued. “We’re excited for the chefs to showcase their creativity, and we know the vibes will be unforgettable.”
SWADE indicated that the fall series will make its debut in Kansas City with an infused barbecue lunch at Fox and Pearl’s craft pop-up, Night Goat Barbecue. A family-style dinner at The Westside Local will round out the options.
“Night Goat barbecue came from my love of smoked meats and stoner metal. It’s going to be fun to bring it full circle and infuse my barbecue with THC,” said Night Goat Barbecue and Fox and Pearl owner Chef Vaughn Good.
According to the dispensary, the infused dining series utilizes a food and beverage cannabis product curated by local chefs. The series marks a first of its kind for Kansas City and a major expansion for SWADE.
“The Westside Local is very excited to welcome an infused dinner to Kansas City in collaboration with SWADE. Our food is meant for comfort and familiarity and perfect for the munchies. We’re proud of the added benefit of dining out for a cause, with a portion of our ticket sales going to The Last Prisoner Project,” said The Westside Local team.
Earlier in 2025, SWADE noted that it acquired nearly a half-dozen dispensaries in the metro area. The dispensary hopes the series nods to the normalization of cannabis consumption.
The series is expected to be filmed in Kansas City during the following days:
