Amazon planning to cut tens of thousands of corporate jobs this week, report says

October 27, 2025

Amazon plans to cut as many as 30,000 corporate jobs as early as Tuesday in a cost-shaving move, according to a report by Reuters.

The e-commerce giant is looking to compensate for overhiring during the peak demand of the COVID pandemic, three people familiar with the matter told the news outlet.

The cuts would represent nearly 10% of Amazon’s corporate workforce and would be the company’s largest reduction since 2022, Reuters reported.

Managers of impacted teams were asked to undergo training on Monday for how to communicate with staff following email notifications that will start going out on Tuesday morning, the report stated.

An Amazon spokesperson declined to comment to Reuters and could not immediately be reached for comment by NJ Advance Media.

The company recently announced that it would be hiring 250,000 seasonal, part-time and full-time workers in the U.S. ahead of the 2025 holiday season, including in rural areas of the country.
