A global Microsoft outage Wednesday was disrupting websites and other systems used by Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines less than a week after a tech outage temporarily grounded the fleet.

The outage of Microsoft’s Azure cloud portal has left users unable to access Office 365, Minecraft and other services. The company said it had deployed a fix to the cloud service as of Wednesday afternoon. Microsoft said customers may be seeing “initial signs of recovery” in an online update.

Alaska Airlines posted a statement on Wednesday saying the outage was “impacting the Microsoft Azure platform where several Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines services are hosted.”

An IT outage last week grounded the airline’s fleet for eight hours.

“For our guests who are unable to check-in online due to the Microsoft Azure outage, please see an agent at the airport for a boarding pass, and allow for some extra time in the lobby,” the Alaska Airlines statement said Wednesday. “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we navigate this issue.”

As of Wednesday afternoon, the airlines’ site included a message warning users that that due to the outage, “some functionality may not be available.”

An Alaska Airlines spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
