Belvidere police find cannabis, ammo during traffic stop

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) – A Poplar Grove man faces weapon and drug charges following a traffic stop in Belvidere.
Joshua Salgado, 23, is accused of unlawful delivery of cannabis and unlawful possession of ammunition with a FOID card.

Just after 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, Belvidere police pulled over a maroon Honda Accord in the area of Appleton Road and Bypass Route 20 for moving violations.
During the stop, police say the driver admitted to having a cannabis vape in the car, which led to a search of the vehicle.

While searching the vehicle, police say they found 439 grams of cannabis, 63 cannabis vape pens with 126 grams of cannabis and 31 rounds of handgun ammunition.

The Belvidere Police Department identified Salgado as the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle.
He was taken to the Boone County jail on no bond.
